looks straight into our eyes and reminds us of the similarities that we share with
that character. These characters then in a subtle manner, begin to shape how we
think and that is where the success of cinema or any artform lies.

- Taare Zameen Par: An
eight-year-old boy, Ishaan is thought to be a lazy trouble-maker. His
parents continue to be disappointed with his performance, and as a result
he hides his report cards from them, often misses school, and keeps to
himself all the time and is then sent to a boarding school. His new art
teacher then attempts to help him to discover the real problem behind his
struggles in school and overcome dyslexia.
- Rang De Basanti: The
story of six young Indians who assist an English woman, who wishes to
showcase to the world the efforts of these young revolutionaries and the
enormity of their contribution to the freedom movement in India. The
events unfold in a manner that lead them to relive the long-forgotten saga
of freedom.
- 3 Idiots: Two friends are searching for their long-lost companion. They revisit their college days and recall the memories of their friend who inspired them to think differently, even as the rest of the world called them "idiots". It also tries to raise the issue of high number of students’ suicide in India due to pressures and expectation thrust upon them.
- Swades: A successful
Indian scientist returns to an Indian village to take his nanny to America
with him and in the process rediscovers his roots. Set-in modern-day
India, this inspiring movie tackles the issue facing the citizens of this
nation at grassroots level.
- Rock On: This
story about the 4 young friends who put together the greatest band this
country had ever seen but never made it. Years later fate conspires to
bring them together again and sets them on a journey back to where they
left off. A soul-searching pilgrimage into their past reunite to relive
their moments of glory as a rock band and chase their forgotten dream.
- Black: Michelle
is an unfortunate child: an illness in her infancy has rendered her blind,
mute and deaf. She is living in a dark world when Debraj Sahay comes into
her life as her teacher and teaches her the meaning of words and how to
express them. Debraj leads her from this darkness and confusion into light
and hope, how he makes her discover her an identity and pursue her goals.
- Lakshya: An
aimless, jobless, irresponsible grown who upon watching an action movie,
he and some friends decide to enlist in the army, only to decide halfway
through the course that it is too much for them. This decision costs Karan
the respect of his family and lover, so he resolves to return to the army
and prove his resilience and matures into a battlefield hero.
